More Than Rubies

God says, ““A capable, intelligent, and virtuous woman–who is he who can find her? She is far more precious than jewels and her value is far above rubies.” Proverbs‬ ‭31:10‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

God says.

I believe God says the truth and nothing else. So if you believe this, too, doesn’t it follow that the quality of the relationships we accept into our lives should be valued in the same way?

If I am worth MORE than jewels, why am I settling for anything less? Would I share my most precious possession in the same way? How would I feel if my son or daughter, brother or sister would settle for anything less?

If my value is MORE than rubies, shouldn’t my standards match that value? Shouldn’t I represent myself as an ambassador for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20) in a way that shows others “hey, I’m worth a lot, and I won’t accept anything less than that because God didn’t create me for anything less than that.”?

I know I’ve been settling for the whatever kind of quality is available. But as I’m learning a lesson, it dawned on me a couple of weeks ago that my expectations are high, but they are not wrong. Most people will argue with that. Most people won’t understand. And I was kind of sad about it, then God reminded me of my worth. “More than rubies” kept coming into my head. “More than rubies, more than rubies, more than rubies.” Not everybody gets to own rubies. Not everybody takes care of rubies well. Not everybody deserves them. Not everybody wants them.

Believing what God says is true about you will make it a lot of more peaceful, not easy, but peaceful to stand up and stand firm in the waiting for what God has for you.

Friend, don’t settle. It’s not worth it.
Wait. Say, “no” or “yes”. But do it all in the midst of your God created value.
More than rubies.
